HI,

I was wondering if anyone knows if i need to get a UAE visa to get from mascut to the Dibba Region (Northern tip of Oman that's cut off from the rest of the country). I dont want to get a UAE visa as the country has now imposed huge visa charges to Canadian Passport holders.

Question probably been asked before, but such things sometimes change ...

1) Is it easy to rent a car in Dubai, drive to Oman and return to Dubai?
2) Is it possible to find a rental company in either Dubai or Muscat that allows one-way rental, without huge drop-off charge?

Main target of our visit is Oman, but flights to Dubai are often cheaper.

We'd like to book flights to oman for the Christmas Holiday but are a bit worried about the political situation. A couple of weeks ago, media reported demonstrations which resulted in the killing of some demonstrators. Since then, no more reports on Oman, as all the media attention is focussing on Yemen, Syria and Libya.
Nobody has a crystral ball and can look inti the future, but is there anyone who has an idea about what might happen in acouple of months' time?

I'm going to be in Oman for a week so this month(May). As there's no backpackers' accommodation I'm contemplating camping out, maybe sleeping on some of the beaches. Is this practical or is it going to be too insanely hot?

I'm gonna be traveling through Oman and was wondering if anybody knows if Italian and Macedonian residents need transit visa. As Macedonian i need visas (even transit) for lots of places so i tried contacting the embassy in Italy (i live here) but 2 weeks now and there is no reply and i need to buy ticket if i want a cheap one :)
I tried emailing some other embassies but my mails were returned...

Does anybody now joint tourist visa with Oman & Qatar how long is it valid from?

I will apply from Qatar Gov web site and get an E Visa to oman.

I hope LP members answer this point?

I will go to Muscat very son actually in abt 4 days and I havent spend much time on searching for a place to stay but I saw in the Lonely Planet that the cheapest place to stay is 15 Rial per night that cant be true there has to be a dorm in the city. So please help me to find a place for maximum 10 euros a night.
