My fiance and I are stopping off on our way back from Safari (honeymoon!) in May and would like to do a self-drive trip while we're in the area.
We're landing in Dubai but would like to spend most (if not all) our time in Oman.
Can anyone please suggest the best option, transport-wise? I suppose options include:
Rent a vehicle in Dubai--something that can be taken cross-border
Catch a flight from Dubai to Muscat and rent there
Get a coach (not the preferred option, really) from Dubai to…

If you are moving to Oman/visiting Oman and like to use Skype, invest in a VPN or plan accordingly.
Hi all,
we are going to Oman in late august and mainly travelling around the north, however are hoping to book 2 nights in Salalah via flight.
We are keen nature enthusiasts and love animals etc but what would you suggest as the top sights/things to do in Salalah for a short 2 night visit?
I have seen the blowhole online, that looks pretty interesting, but anything else that will not break our budget?

we are hoping to travel to Oman in August and have read around about driving muscat -> salalah however everyone is against this and so we are now looking for cheap flights.
I have looked with oman air but the flights are quite pricey for our budget.
Can anyone recommend cheapest flights please Muscat to salalah return.
We have tried doing single flights uk -> muscat, then muscat -> salalah and doing our return from salalah however this is working out verrryyy expensive.

Hi. We are thinking of having a holiday in Oman January 2014. We are hoping to go camping, but I am finding it hard to find designated campsites with toilet and shower facilities in the country. Is there enough/any? campsites throughout the country so we can just hire a car and go where we want without free camping or paying for the luxury camps?

My wife and I will be driving around Oman from Feb 18 to March 2. We will probably be in the same place for only one or two nights. I want to keep a flexible itinerary. Spend the day site-seeing then start looking for a hotel around 3-4pm.
Q1. How easy is it to find hotels? Do they all get booked up pretty quickly? Do I need reservations in advance for every night?
Since I am not sure where I will be on any particular night , I don't want to lock myself into a rigid itinerary.

My girlfriend and I are leaving for Oman in a couple of weeks to go camping for 10 days.
Its our first time in Oman and our initial thought was to pick up our car and drive down to Fins to go camping on White Beach for the first night.
I am now reading on the web however that it might get busy on White beach and also that there might be cars driving up and down the beach and kids banging on drums into the early hours.
