Hi, I found that the hotels in Nizwa are all expensive.

Could anybody introduce any budget hotel/ guesthouse there ?

I don't mind its not in the city centre, but better no to be too far (for example 4 or 5 km from city centre).

Is it possible to be US$ 30 for a room per night ?

Thanks

hi All,
Its ages since I have posted so please be gentle!
in August I am flying to KL with Oman air and decided, hopefully for the best, to take the longer stop over option so I can go explorign for a bit.

I arrive at the airport at 8:25 am and leave again at 21:15.

I have been trying to work out my best tactic for the day and information seems rather linited. Has anyone done this and got any good ideas to share? Are there any tours that go from the airport? I did this in Brunai a few years…

Hi all,
we are leaving next week for ten days in Oman and my partner and i are looking for some advice on beach camping. We are going to Wahiba Sands and to Ras Al Jinz in order not to miss the "must-do" but we would like to find a quiet and sandy beach / bay in Sharqiya where to place our tend and spend two nights.
Any advice?
Many thanks in advance for your help
i.

Hi!

We spent 2 weeks in Oman over Xmas 2012 - New Year 2013.
Here is a summary of our (great) experience in this amazing country.
More details including budget: http://www.oneyearoff.net/countries-visited/asia/oman/
And a selection of about 200 pictures.

Hope it helps
Cheers
Gilles

Oman is special. Where else on the Arabic Peninsula has some of the “Sinbad the Sailor” feeling survived? Besides this 1001 Nights flair, we were stunned by lush oases, ancient fortresses, sandy beaches, dramatic…

I have a couple of days in Muscat on a stopover and have just one full day on Saturday 6 April. I would really like to go to Nizwa but the options seem fairly limited and a private tour there is quite expensive. Is there anyone there on the same dates who would like to share a tour to cut costs? I have found various operators online but it's difficult to judge their merits.

I don't drive unfortunately, but if someone else did I would be happy to share the costs.

Any other ideas?

Most of the posts on here seem to be about mid range to luxury travel and hiring cars. I am wandering how possible it is to travel here as a backpacker. Are there cheap hotels and a decent public transport network? Where can I find information about this sort of thing?

I am thinking about traveling from Sharjah into Oman and along to Muscat and then to Pakistan. Are there any ferries from Muscat to Karachi?

Thanks

Hi all,
I've gone through the last few months of posts trying to find some information about 4x4 hire.
I plan on visiting Oman in April and would like to hire a 4x4 that comes with camping equipment; tent, stove, water etc so that we can camp mostly without having to visit campsites.
I have found two suggestions of companies; desert thunder oman and holiday in oman.
Anyone got any other suggestions?

Thanks for you help
Jeanne

I'm so excited! We are soon off to Dubai for a few days and then Oman, our main destination. Due to time constraints we only have about 2.5 days to drive from Dubai to Muscat, but instead of taking the main freeway, I would like to do the inland route, driving through Al-Ain (UAE), Buraimi, Ibri, Bahla, Jabrin and Nizwa, hoping to make it to at least some of the picturesque spots along the way (Al-Hamra and Bilad Sayt villages, Al-Hoota Cave, Jebel Shams... plus whatever else anyone…
