Is the taxi kiosk at Muscat airport open 24 hours? and are taxis readily available at night? we have a flight arriving at 23.20 so will be looking for a cab to Al Qurum sometime hopefully before midnight.
Thanks,
Pete

If there's money to be made, people will be there to make it. In short, you'll have no problems.

There are flights leaving around midnight, and quite a few flights getting in that late too. It is also worth noting that, in Oman, people stay out pretty late. The hardest time to get anything done is during the afternoon, as most people take a long lunch. Because of this, working hours for taxis (and other businesses) extend later than in many other countries.
Depending on your state of mind when you arrive, do consider venturing out past the taxi kiosk. If you wander a bit towards the highway you will find taxis that will usually give you a much better fare. Getting ON TO the highway will be even better, but that is a bit much of a hike after a long trip (have to go over the raised walkway, etc.).

The taxi kiosk is open 24/7 and offers fixed rates. To Qurum, the price will be 7 or 8 Rials. There is no late night charge or anything. You have to pay on site and will receive a voucher to be handed over to the driver. It's all very easy and organised.

We made it to the taxi stand at 4am and it was no problem catching a taxi. It was also no problem purchasing a SIM card for the mobile at the airport at 4am.
Thanks for all the replies, We've been to Oman before and know the kiosk, but last time we arrived from Qatar in the middle of the afternoon.. this time it's late on a flight from Switzerland. As i'll be with Mrs R who has developed a low tolerance to my "let's just wander down here and see if we can find a cheaper taxi" it will be the fixed 8 rials on a voucher to the hotel. I just wasn't sure if the airport and taxis were a 24/7 operation, but these concerns are now quashed. Cheers, Pete
