I just got back from a great week in Lebanon and wanted to note the two great hostels I stayed in.
Beirut: Al Naim Hotel, one street over from Talal's and from Nazih's Pension, both mentioned in the LP book and by other travelers. Al Naim is run by Eduardo, a fantastic Lebanese/Venezuelan guy, and his staff, Azziz and Aimon. They were fantastic and treated me like a friend and family member for the week I was there. They even helped my sick friend, keeping him supplied with water, bread, tea, etc. No website yet, but their phone number is 01-587-375. They are on Charles Helou Avenue, so if you are checking at Talal's, you might as well go around the corner and look at Al-Naim as well- look for the blue-painted shutters and flowers on the balconies.
Bcharre: Tiger House hotel- again, a warm and friendly place to stay. Free water and apples whenever you like. The bus driver to Bcharre will drop you off right at their door. Phone: 03-429-463. I believe they have a website also.
Both hostels: $10 for shared dorm; $15 for shared private double.
By the way, I accidently posted this the first time in Community FAQ's- sorry!!
