Hi!

Is it safe (and are Americans welcome) to visit Tourist Landmark of the Resistance (Hezbollah war museum) in Mleeta?

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm British (a little easier I know than being American in this region) and visited last week no problem although we were with a Lebanese national. I'm told that if you show up on your own you might get some questions but it should be no problem. If you're a journalist, you get a special tour!

Enjoy.

Hello folks,

Can anyone give me directions to Mleeta as well as public transport options? I'll be in Beirut in a week's time.

Cheers.

Thanks dlmtn,

I had actually already had a quick look at their website but couldnt at first find the location. The directions are cleverly hidden away under 'Landmark'.

Cheers

It should be very colourful scene, with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's impending visit to Lebanon next week. Beirut and southern Lebanon down to the Israeli border, have become Ahmadinejad-land, covered with Iranian flags and taken over by an estimated 2,500 Revolutionary Guardsmen flown in.

I went to Mleeta last month and it is definitely worth a visit. The site is open to everyone - it doesn't matter at all where you are from. I am American and the staff at the site were nothing but pleasant and helpful to me.

It is a little tricky to find, but it can be done. Probably makes the most sense to rent a car in Beirut...

I have some pictures and a description of my visit (as well as directions on how to get there) here on my blog if anyone is interested:
