I will be in Beirut for a few days next week. I know it's not exactly peak season for going to the beach but would like the odd afternoon lying by the pool if the weather is nice. Are the beach clubs, like Saint Georges, still open?

Hi,
I was there last November.
Hotel pool was drained.
Never saw anybody on the beach.
Problem is that onshore winds start to pick up in fall and it gets a bit chilly!

Far as I know all beach clubs are closed from late October till April. Most Lebanese find it too cold to swim outside the high season, whereas most Westerners find it quite agreeable.

You can always try one of the beachclubs and see if they let you on their beach (only works if there is someone)

Otherwise you can go to public beaches (Tyre for example).
