After having read rather mixed reviews: Any cheaper place to stay that you can recommend in Beirut (if possible near Charles Helou bus station / the night life area)? Or is it worth spending a bit more there?

Hi,
I stayed at the Mayflower in November.
They gave me a rate of US$65 since it was low season.
But when the Eid holiday came the rate jumped to $120 and I went home early!

Hi, we stayed in the Hamra area (in the moonlight hotel) which costs 40 USD for a double room with ensuite bathroom, satelite tv, aircon and balkony. The Hamra area is more lively than the the area around charles helou which has greatly disappointed me since it is so sterile and boring.
