Hi

I'm planning to spend 8 days in Lebanon, but 3 of them will be during the Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice). What can I expect for shops, tourist sites and hostels/guesthouses? Will they most likely be open or closed, will accommodation rates increase significantly during those days? Will public transport run normally or should I expect a holiday schedule? (I'm interested in the situation in both Beirut and outside Beirut!)

I live in Istanbul myself and here life seems to go on as normal during those days, with just some shops closed and people visiting their families in other areas of Turkey.

Thanks for your help!

nowadays nothing closes in Lebanon, as everybody benefits from the vacation to go out and shop.. but u might find higher prices in hotels..

Also remember that there is a sizeable Christian community in Beirut -- and in other parts of Lebanon -- who couldn't care in the slightest about Eid. For them, it will be business as usual
