Hello,
I will be travelling to Lebanon on the 13th of November and will be in the country until the 21st. I am looking to do some hiking and would be grateful for advice. I’m an experienced hiker and have heard wonderful things about the hiking here, particularly in the Qadisha valley and along the Lebanon Mountain Trail. Basically, what have people’s hiking experience been like in the country. What route/s should an outdoor lover not miss?
I would love to find a 2 or 3 day hike if possible, but am living abroad and unfortunately without my trustee tent. Is it possible to hike sections of a larger trail here and find guesthouses along the way? Or better still are there outfits that will run guided hikes (including tents). I saw some on the LMT website but the guides they were recommending were a wee bit out of my price range as I am on my own. If these options aren’t really possible can someone recommend a small town from which to base 2 or 3 days of single day trekking?
Also, I have been keeping an eye on the weather which has been looking relatively friendly recently. However, is the Lebanese interior known for its freakish overnight weather changes? And aside from the basics, (map/compass/good boots/first aid/wet gear...ect) are there any “don’t leave withouts” particular to Lebanon hiking.
Finally, though I’m generally not one for hiking in massive groups, a few walking buddies are always most welcome and am curious if there are going to be any more hikers looking to do some walking around the 15th or 16th for a couple of days.
All insight is most welcome,
Best.
