Hello,

sorry for yet another very specific question regarding 2 passports and one Israel stamps. I will meet a friend in Cairo. She is coming from Israel with her second passport. I am carrying her first one with me because she didn´t want to carry her Iran/Syria etc. visas with her to Israel. We want to go on to Beirut together. We are both German. Now, I am afraid we didn´t consider that she will, I guess, have to fly out of Cairo showing her second passport - that with the Egyptian visa and Israel stamp. Then she could use her first one to fly into Beirut and in case someone asks, she has been on some direct flight from Europe.
Do you think the check-in in Cairo will accept the combination of a ticket to Beirut and a passport with an Israeli stamp? Do they mind if someone travels with two passports? Do they report? Should I better try to have the first passport sent to her in Israel? We thought it over again and again, but I think we somehow opted for the wrong way. Merde!

Thanks a lot, you people out there!

Welcome to Thorn Tree.

If I understand you correctly, I think it's going to be OK.

As I understand it your friend is still in Israel, which she entered on her second passport. She will fly out from Tel Aviv to Cairo using her second passport. That's right - the second passport is for Israel (I replied to someone on this very subject about two days ago, search the forum for Shuffaluff second passport Israel).

She must fly to Cairo rather than crossing by land, and she should ask the Israeli official not to stamp her passport because she is going on to Lebanon. If she crosses by land from Israel to Egypt at Eilat/Taba, she will get a stamp from Egypt saying she entered at Taba, meaning obviously that she was in Israel.

She then uses her first passport (with no evidence of a visit to Israel) to fly from Cairo to Beirut.

Note that she must have no evidence whatsoever of a visit to Israel - no guide book specifically for Israel, no receipt from a Jerusalem hotel, no shopping bag from a Tel Aviv bookshop...

So how are you going to get round the little problem that the flight ticket for her will be from Cairo - or worse still Tel Aviv?

The Lebanese, if they have half a brain, will want to know how she entered Egypt and will want proof that she came from elsewhere first.

It doesn't matter if her 2nd passport gets a stamp for the Egyptian border so there's no need to fly to Egypt - but she'll really need to lose the 2nd passport "just in case".

Thank you for your answers!
Yes, she is still in Israel with only her second passport that will have stamps/visa of Egypt and Israel in it when she reaches Cairo (by air) where we will meet. I have her first passport without the Israel stamps. We can send all things "Israel" to Europe, but I guess she will need her second passport with the Egyptian visa to leave Egypt. Entering Lebanon, I think she could just show her first passport. Last time I went to Lebanon, they didn´t ask much about where I came from etc.
Is there any chance the Egyptian officials stamp her first passport that does not carry the visa? Are the Egyptians relaxed with two passports/traveling to both Israel and Lebanon? Could she maybe get an Egyptian visa in her first passport, too, once she´s in the country.
Gosh - we really had thought about how to do it a lot, and now it seems completely stupid. Alternatively, I could try to have the first passport sent to her so she could use it when entering Egypt for that visa.

Yes, AlanR, the ticket is Cairo - Beirut - but do they ask for flight tickets upon arrival in Lebanon? I guess it all might be a matter of luck, too, and I find that usually, two women travelling in the Middle East are treated very nicely.

There's a good chance that they will look at the passport, see the LACK of Egypt stamps then ask for the boarding card or other evidence of the flight from "somewhere else".

I'd meet your friend somewhere in Schengen where the lack of stamps isn't a problem, give her the passport then make your way to Lebanon

hello - I'm new here but could use some urgent advice.

I am in israel, travelling to lebanon tomorrow. I am going through amman (flying from tel aviv). I have a second, new and blank passport.

what is the best way to do this? should I use my new passport to exit israel but ask them to not stamp me? or should I use my old passport to leave israel and show my new one when I arrive in beirut?

any help would be much much appreciated? it is late in the game!

thank you

peter
