We will be staying at My Hotel in Aqaba in April. We have 3 full days there and would like to snorkel every day. We have enquired with Dive in Aqaba (based in the town) about day trips on their boat. The price seems fairly reasonable and included lunch and hotel pick up. Advice would be appreciated on how easy it would be to snorkel independently foer 1 or 2 days without transport in the area and whether the snorkelling would be any good. A friend and I are going to Wadi Rum to go climbing. We fly to Israel, will take a bus south and cross into Jordan at Eilat. The plan was to take a hire car for the duration of the time in Jordan: we fly tomorrow and return 2 weeks later. Most of the time we will be climbing but will take a few days "off" to visit some sights (Petra, Dead Sea). Hey fellow travelers! So I have scoured the boards and I may have missed it, but would it be cheaper to hire tours once in Jordan versus booking them from the UK? While I was traveling in the Balkans, a fellow traveler told me booking in Morocco was cheaper than booking tours from outside so wondering if it's the same sitch in Jordan. Or can my husband and I do it independently? Btw we're looking at going in April.

Also does anyone know if we can fly from Aqaba back to London?

Hello all! My husband and I are traveling with friends to Israel with a trip planned to Petra. The plan of the group is to rent a car in Jerusalem and spend two nights in Eilat with a day trip to Petra. I would rather spend those two nights in Jordan. Does this plan sound like it would work?
Day 1- travel in rental car with friends to Eilat. Get dropped off at border and arrange for transport to Petra. Stay in hotel. Possibly do cooking class and Petra at night.

I'm due to visit Jordan in a few weeks (January 2015) for business. Ill be there for four months and travelling around with a middle eastern film crew.

I am not concerned about the general safety of Jordan, only the ongoing war in Syria and Iraq and the brutal kidnappings and killings. As a Caucasian female from UK am worried that being in such close proximity to the troubled countries that I could be a target.

I am a solo female traveler who is thinking of going to Jordan in October of 2015. I have read a lot online regarding the safety of doing this. Some with dire warnings (usually government) and others usually on travel websites that say that the western world is just creating fear.

I went to the Jordan message board and it seems that posts that are warning people have been deleted.

Hello there. I've been trying to find up to date info on the situation of the Israel Jordan border. I found this info which can help, but not sure how old it is.

Can anyone check if at the moment it is the same price for exit and entry tax on the Northern and Southern borders?

I will not use Allenby bridge because I don't have a visa for Jordan.
