Hi Everybody !

Well, I've been in Jordan long enough to need new clothes.

Specifically, I need sweaters, a few light cotton tunics, and a maybe a peasant skirt or two.

I wear a size 18 in american clothes.

Does anybody know of a shop in Aqaba that sells clothes in my size ?

Thanks :)

Hi I am hoping you can help me with some questions:

We have found we have a couple of days to play with so are planning to add Wadi Rum in after Petra.

We are crossing from Egypt through Israel into Jordan and back the same way.

Is it best to head to Petra first and then add Wadi Rum on the way back to Egypt? or the other way?

We will have 2 large-ish backpacks with us - there are 4 of us travelling (party includes 2 kids - 11 and 14). The basic plan of the tour we want to do will include a…

I need some transportation information regarding travelling from Jerusalem to Petra via the Eilat-Aqaba border. Specifically, I need to know the following:

  1. Is there a direct bus from Jerusalem to Eilat and how long is the journey time?

  2. How do I cross the border (taxi, on foot, etc.)?

  3. Can I get a Jordan entry visa at this border crossing?

  4. How can I get from Aqaba to Petra? Is there a direct bus and how long is the journey time?

  5. Can this trip be…

Here is my experience.

Aqaba - Petra, minibus at 6:30, next might be 8:30. We were around 7:00 in local bus station. It is possible to bargain taxi for 30 JD. But there many travel copmanys have offices and drivers are often going to Petra to pick up tourists. So one of them picked us up to Petra for 5 JD each, we were 2 people. So if you missed a bus just wait someone will take you for affordable price.

Petra - Wadi Rum. Very easy. Minibus from every hotel/guest house. Just inform reception…

what are people's experiences using the 2006 edition of the Jordan guide book in the country? I'm guessing prices will have undoubtedly gone up, but by how much? And more generally how accurate is it, particularly regarding transport arrangements. It seems that it will be much harder to get around than egypt. I've always found the LP guides to be spot on but i thought i'd see with this one.

many thanks.

Just wondering if you buy the Jordanian visa at the Israel-Jordan border?

Any paperwork needed for crossing through Israel at that point?

I am thinking about traveling alone to Jordan and Egypt this December. Is this safe? What things should I be aware of and avoid?

Hi

I am having real trouble finding a decent mid-range hotel in Amman.

Looks like all the budget places are pretty grim from the reviews here and on TA.

We can stretch the budget to around JOD 50 at a push.

Just want somewhere decent to stay for a couple of days.

Any suggestions guys?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi,

Was wondering if people can share their thoughts on the best way to enter the West Bank from Jordan...

My ultimate destination is Bethlehem, and I am starting from Amman.

Originally I was planning on going through Israel to do the trip. I was intended to travel via the King Hussein border crossing (to avoid the passport stamp) but it would be good to know what the other options are.

Or do I just have my geography all screwed up and there's no way I can avoid getting to Bethlehem without…
