Just returned from a 10 day trip to Jordan, so here are a few details in case they are of use to anyone.

We flew into Amman, and got a taxi directly to Madaba (organised in advance by the Moab Land Hotel where we stayed). Moab Land was grand - great location in the middle of town and opposite the church with the mosaics. We had a hired car delivered to us at the hotel the next morning (delivered at no extra cost). First day we visited Mount Nebo and the Dead Sea, second day we visited the…

Gah, I'm shocked/surprised/appalled (take your pick). I am planning a trip to Jordan in June 09 and while the tour inside Jordan is organized (through the Wadi Rum on horseback), I need to organize my own transport to Amman and back.

It seems impossible to get from Germany to Amman for less than 500€ - which strikes me as pretty expensive, considering I can get to California or Dubai for that amount or have a one week's package holiday including the flight in Egypt for less. How come it's so…

Has anyone got an up-to-date email address for the Dana Hotel (not the Guesthouse), please? We are planning a few days in Jordon and would like to spend a couple of days at Dana Nature Reserve.

I have the same address from two sources (sdqe@nets.com.jo) but messages are returned as"undeliverable").

Thanks

I'm planning to go to from Petra to Wadi Rum on the morning of Friday 12/19/08 by rental car. I would like to stay overnight in the desert, leaving in the morning on Saturday 12/20/08.

1) It's a Friday, is that going to be a problem?

2) It's December. Is it going to be ridiculously cold? I can deal with some cold (I snow camp in the California Sierras).

3) What time, typically, are you back at the Visitor's center after an overnight stay? Is it reasonable to make the fast ferry to Nuweiba…

We will be in Eilat at the end of Dec . Should we hire a rental car in Aqaba and go on our own? Will that be difficult if we speak only English (maps?) or should be hire a driver or guide at the border to take us on day trips to the sites within Jordan? Is it possible to see the sites of Wasi Rum from the highways or do we need to get out and hike the desert? Is it just better to hire a 4x4 or camel tour? We appreciate any advice you can offer...thanks!

Hello, I have a few questions:

How much would a taxi to the Movenpick resort cost from the Queen Alia airport in Amman? I am trying to determine how much cash I will require.

Also, is there a limit on the amount of cash brought into or out of the country?

Is the Jordanian currentcy required or is USD acceptable for taxis and restaurants?

thanks!

Hey there, this has probably been asked a million times but I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing =)

I read everywhere that getting a single entry visa for a two day trip to Jordan at the Eilat/Aqaba border is a simple and quick procedure.

I just called the Jordanian consulate in Buenos Aires and they recommend that you get the visa here, what should I do?

One of my travel companions lives 400km from BuenosAires and I don't think she'd like the idea of coming to Bs As for the…

I have a bit of a quandary.

I'm planning to head to Wadi Rum for a few days, do a couple of self guided hikes (feasible?) whilst staying in the village, then do some camel treks and maybe stay the night in a Bedouin camp.

The thing is, I'm nearing the end of my time in Jordan and I don't want to take too much money out and then have to faff with changing it (plus losing money on two exchanges), but I'm guessing there's not too many ATMs in Wadi Rum (or money changers?). The Lonely Planet has…
