I am in Lebanon travelling, heading to Syria shortly. I have decided to condense my schedule and go to Jordan. I was wondering if one can get a Jordanian visa upon arrival at the Syrian-Jordanian border? Or do I have to go to the Jordanian embassy in Damascus or Beirut? I would rather avoid having to fly Damascus-Amman to get a visa at the airport.

Hi Forum,
I was wondering if any one could help me with my travel planning, It's my first time to the Middle East and I'll be travelling solo,

I fly into Amman September 19 and plan to spend 2 days in Amman and a day in Jerash. I would like to travel next to Petra then cross into Israel at the Aqaba/Eilat crossing,
I plan to travel north through Israel to the Dead Sea, Masada, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem before crossing the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge back into Jordan so I can catch my flight home,

Hi.

I have a 12 hour stopover in Amman. My flight arrives Tuesday 21st July at 8:30am and departs at 8:15pm.

Should I spend the day in Amman? To my knowledge the big things to see are the Citadel, Roman Theatre and other nearby sites.

Or should I spend the day in Jerash? Does that give me enough time? Since it's just a stopover I won't have to go through the whole check-in procedure. If Jerash is recommended, and I think that's where I'm leaning towards, how best to get there from the…

Hello there,

we're a couple going to Syria and Jordan end of July staying all August and leaving at the beginning of September.
We're travelling on a budget so we're going to use public transport where available, however the LP guidebook says there are a few sites you'd be better off with your own transport, e.g the King's Highway and a few other places.
Just in case some other couple will be there and would like to share car rental costs, we've decided to post this thread.

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about renting a car and heading down from Amman to see Petra this weekend (probably Saturday). Was wondering if anyone was interested in coming along. I'm fairly flexible, but thought it would be cool to leave super early to get to Petra in the morning, before the crowds and sun arrive.

Let me know!
-J

Hi kids,

I'm planning a three week trip through Jordan/Syria Lebanon with a friend later this year. We have put together a cracking itinerary (see below for Jordan section of the trip) and would be grateful for any comments/suggestions, particularly as to whether you think we can fit in all the sights we hope to cover, what you think of the accomodation we have our eye on and whether you think we are better off relying on public transport or hiring a car. I'm living in Kuwait and my friend is…

If you could recommend from your own experiences any relable and affordable tour operators, accommodation and how to get there I would really appreciate it. I want to see as much as…

hi all

having searched the forum i've found that the route from Aqaba to the Dead Sea (hotels area) is about 300km or 3 - 3 1/2 hours in my little rental car.

Is this a twisty windy road? Its described as more scenic than the Desert Highway, but is it? Already travelling south via Kings Highway so considering which route to take north to overnight at Dead Sea before flight home.

Anybody recommend this route?
