Is anyone interested in doing the Malaqi Trail at Wadi Mujib on Monday, October 22?

Here is the link to the water trail:
http://www.rscn.org.jo/orgsite/Reserves/MUJIBNATURERESERVE/Trails/tabid/220/Default.aspx

It's an adventurous full day hike, and requires a minimum group of 5 people. We made our reservations (there are 2 of us) and need three more to reach the minimum. Hoping we will get lucky and have three more sign up by then, but would rather not risk it as we really want to do this hike…

For travellers concerned about animal abuse in Petra, they should report it to:

www.petrapark.com/contact

You can also inform the Horse Owner Association, Tourism Police and also the Petra Archaeological Park Authority (you will need to get their contact details from your hotel).

As I wrote in my previous post The Brooke no longer look after the animal hospital in Petra and thus no longer deal with the complaints (although they did take up my complaint about the cart driver no 9- I will post…

Jordan

Ajloun Nature Reserve. Admission even to take the short walk is JD8+ per person

Olive Branch Resort, near Jerash. Your description of the Tuscan setting is accurate but the rooms are spartan. Restaurant is good - dinner and breakfast were good. They are extending and may finish up with better quality accom but at this stage spartan.

Mariam hotel, Madaba. NOT worthy of an 'our pick'. Some in my group complained of grubby bedding. The dinner was appalling, Breakfast was grim.

Movenpick…

Hi,

I am going to Jordan (and Israel) in mid-june and all the guidebooks available (LP, Rough Guide, Bradt) are from 2009 and will release new edition around that time.

I am wondering how outdated they are, mainly in terms of transport (eg bus station Amman)? Is there any real alternative? I tried to get information if the LP digital chapters might be available earlier, but so far without luck ;-)

Cheers everyone,
Sebastian

Last week I went on a tour of Jordan with a group of friends.

I write this to warn people who care for the welfare of animals, so they will not be as shell shocked as I was and can prepare themselves.

While we were walking the streets in Amman, we saw a maybe two week old kitten walking. She was dirty and wobbly on her feet and obviously lost her mother. Before we could do anything she scurried away. We were like “oh my God, poor cat” and such. There were some men around who started mimicking…

Hi,

I'm going to Taba, Egypt for a week in June and I'd like to go to Petra, Jordan for one of the days. The tours I found are very expensive.... around £200 ($300) which includes transportation (ferry from Nuweiba to Aqaba, transfer buses), entry to Petra, lunch etc.

Does anyone know a cheaper option?

Has anyone done this trip by themselves rather than pay for a tour? If so, how easy and safe is it?

Many thanks,
Corina

Jordan

Hey all,

Solo traveler here. I'm flying into Amman on July 25th at two in the morning. I plan on spending three to four days in Jordan. I'd like to see Petra and some of the other sights along the way (Karak, etc.). I want to rent a car since that will make seeing more things possible, but I need other people to split the cost with! Please comment back/message me if you want to do this! I'm pretty open about what to see, I just would like to be back in Jordan the night of the 28th/morning of…

Greetings All,

I will be hoping around Jordan and Egypt soon and was wondering what the best dive shop in Aqaba is? I plan to start in Amman for 1 day, hit up the dead sea on my way south, get my adventure or advanced open water cert in Aqaba for 2 days, 2 days in wadi, 2 days in petra, hit up Sinai for a couple days, and then off to Cairo to round out the trip at the pyramids.

The trip is pretty flexible except that I have to book the diving and want to do it earlier in the trip (planning on…

Hi

My partner, son and I are making a brief trip to Jordan from UK at end October. We only have 4 nights in the country and I want to make the most of the time by driving direct (in a hire car already booked) from the international airport to Wadi Musa (Petra) when we arrive. I note the quickest route would be down Desert Highway and then west at Ma'an. Unfortunately our arrival is about 7 or 8 pm local time which would mean driving in the dark. I have noted comments in other threads about…
