Hello again,

I've just read an awful lot on camps inside Wadi Rum as well as the villages providing tents outside. I've also checked out a number of websites.

One piece of information I cannot seem to find is whether I need to book in advance? As I am travelling alone, with no definite plans, its hard to give them a set date.

If I turn up on 1-2nd December, will I be able to join some sort of overnight desert trip, or get a tent in the village?

Thanks,
Mish

Hello again!
The best way to go to Wadi Rum is by the morning touristbus from Petra/Wadi Musa.
I visited Wadi Rum on October 18 2008. I was travelling alone and I did not make a reservation. I talked to some of the others on the bus and one of them had made a reservation at Sunset Camp. Me and some others hooked up and went to the Sunset Camp as well. If you arrive by your self wihout reservation I am convinced that the visitor center at Wadi rum can help you arrange a overnight desert trip.

I would expect that there are lots of guides at the tourist centre but I booked my over-night trip with www.aodah.de who I found to be a great guide and he has a very well equipped camp site.

Arrive at Wadi Rum without a reservation, and you get allotted to the next guy in line - maybe he speaks English, maybe he doesn't; maybe he's got a comfortable camp and a decent 4WD, maybe not; maybe he's good, maybe he's not.

Book ahead and you avoid the lottery. See www.jordanjubilee.com for info.
