We will be spending two days in Wadi Rum later this month and have the opportunity to take the desert route back to Aqaba. We love the desert and this sounds like a good idea. Has anyone done it - is it worth while? And how long does it take?
One other query - we will be using ATMs for cash, but will also have sterling and dollars on us in case of emergencies. We do not plan to use these currencies, but would they be acceptable if we got stuck without Jordanian dollars?
Thanks.

We just spent a week in Petra and Amman - everyone was quite willing to take US Dollars and we even got pounds back for change at one shop.

You have several options to return to Aqaba across the desert
Jeep or camel or walk
-camel or walk Want 3 days
-Jeep Not more than a few hours
Here in the Wadi Rum you can pay in dollars

Enjoyable trip

Fred there are no ATM's in the desert between Wadi Rum & Aqaba - lol !
Plenty in Aqaba though !!!

$US are the same as using Jordan Dinars. Sterling is also OK in many
places.
