Hi,

I thought I posted this message last night but could not locate. So here goes again. Looking for a local tour company or independent agent. Found many on the net but hard to select. Anyone use "Jordan Direct Tours?

Here's our travel plans> Please make suggestions as to sites missed or a route to follow. Again we are thinking some tour and some on our own.

Here is a brief outline of where we would like to visit when in Jorda -Oct 29th to Nov. 15th when we fly from Amman to Oman (18days

Amman 2/4 days - Amman Pasha Hotel

Jerash - day trip via Madaba

Kerak - Crusader castle
Dana National Park -over night easy hike

Petra 2/3 days with guide

Wadi Rum Overnight Bedouin camp 2/3 days Saw post for camp

Aqaba - relax/snorkle $65 resort Names? 3 days

Dead Sea Spa Resort $65 2 days

Suggestions as to what modes of transportation to use and from where to where. Would like a car/drive for King's Highway from Amman to Petra / bus from Wadi Rum to Aqaba. And Aqaba to Dead Sea? Your ideas.

Your suggestions as to what to use and length of stays, accommodations and so on will help. Still looking for a drive/ guide for a few days. A couple of emails but think they are for guiding around Petra only.Mahamoud Twaissi and Mohammed Al-Hasanat. think I'll copy this post and send to both.

Hotels Amman -- Checked out the Amman Pasha hotel @ $65 and the Palace at less. Getting mixed opinions re Palace Examples good location ,tours but not clean, noisy, small breakfast ?

Looking forward to your assistance
Regards,

John and Doreen Berg

For Jerash, take a tour either from your hotel or from Jordan Tower hotel, which is just across the road in a small alley dividing the two main streets. Raymond at Amman Pasha will know it.
It wouldn't go via Madaba, though.

For Kerak, you can see this en-route to Petra via the Kings Highway. You get an hour's stop there which is (just) enough. If neither place is offering it on the day you want, contact the Rouman hotel in Madaba to find out if they can do it. The latter hotel charged 54 JD for the whole taxi last September and three people was a nice fit.
Maybe the taxi could drop you at Dana, as it's also on the way.

For both places, you need to book at least one day in advance.

Hi Marydoreen!

It´s a pity you are staying in Amman otherwise I would suggest rental car. This is by far the cheapest way to travel around Jordan. You can rent one for 29 JD / day petrol is 0.7 JD / l. It can be difficult to find the way into and out of the bigger cities. I rented one in Madaba a much smaller town southwest of Amman only 18 km from the International Airport. Madaba is good base to start travelling around Jordan. Rental companies bring a car to a hotel in Madaba and collect it again after you have finishing your tour free of charge.
