Hi,
We need to get from Petra ( Wadi Mousa) to the airport in a relatively cheap way. It looks like buses are not an option. Do you know if servee taxis ply this route? Any idea how much they would cost and where we could get one in Wadi Musa to take us to the airport?
Thanks for your wisdom, Carol

Carol - We took a taxi from Wadi Moussa to Amman last week - 70JD, or about $100.00 U.S. Cab company was Al-Hiladi Taxi, driver was Mahmoud Falahat. I have his number if you want it. You won't have a problem, however, finding a cab driver willing to take you. Each driver we had while in Petra asked us if we had arrangements and offered his services. So actually, I have a couple of numbers. They all gave us their cards. Cost seems to be pretty much fixed although you might be able to bargain it down with someone.

The only "cheap" way to the airport is a bus to Amman and then the airport bus. You will need to take a taxi to the Royal Jordanian office where the airport bus leaves from. If you have a RJ ticket you can check in there and save yourselves some time and bother.

Counting the fare to Amman, the taxi across Amman (split in two?) and the fare to the airport you can manage it for less than 10JD each.

You can catch the minibus from Petra to Amman, which should cost about 3 JD. You should ask your driver in advance to stop the bus at the junction that goes to the airport. The airport is about 3km from the junction. From the junction, it should be simple to stop any car going to the airport and pay a few JD to get the rest of the way.

Yes, this is true. With a sweet smile and perhaps a tip, the bus would probably take you "up" the flyover. From there a taxi heading for the airport would take you along.

HI Again,
We are trying to make the 11:25 am flight to Cairo and wonder if you know when the minibus leaves from Petra to Amman . The minibus seems the best option for us as my husband is no way going to stop a car on the entry to the airport and ask for a ride.
How much time should the whole Petra to Amman ,across town to the RJ office and ride to the airport on airport bus take?
Your help planning so much easier.

Actually, stopping a taxi on that road should be fairly easy. They will be arriving empty going to the airport.

Do you need to be there two hours in advance. Because if so, sorry, there's no real way to do it - UNLESS you are flying RJ. The first bus will leave Petra at 6am, and should be in Amman soon after 9am. If you then take a taxi to the RJ office, you might be able to get the 9.30 bus to the airport, otherwise the 10am. Otherwise a taxi to the airport....

As said above, if it's an RJ flight you can check in at the office and be able to get to the airport by 10.30 or so without worries about having to check in there.

You might like to think again about cleopetra's suggestion?

Hi,
Ruth you have helped me not make myself some major problems.......thanks. I think that after reading your suggestions, the best choice I have is -from Petra take the 6:00 am minibus to Amman(Whidat Station..sure I spelled that wrong )and then take a taxi from there to the airport. How much should the taxi fare be? As we are flying Egyptian Air( Royal Jordanian departure times were undoable) how early do we need to be at the airport for check in? I really can't miss Petra by candlelight on Thursday evening..it sounds amazing.
Thanks all for your awesome help.

I can't give you an accurate idea of the price, but almost certainly somewhere around 25/30JD.

It should be much less, but a) this is a seller's market because you HAVE to have the taxi, and b) the price of petrol has just been increased yet AGAIN in Jordan, making a 100% increase in a year, and certainly taxi prices will follow.

Sorry, I can't help with the Egyptair check in time, you will have to ask them.
