Hello,

is the cheapest hotel in Petra the Marriott, at 150 euros???
If there isn't a hotel at a reasonable price I guess I'll just spend the day there coming from Aqaba...

Thanks.

Of course not! Double rooms for 15JOD are nothing uncommon in Wadi Musa. I hope your fiancée will agree on a hotel below 5* level ;)

Wow thanks again for great news. Yes after the splurge at the Dead Sea we'll go to more reasonable hotels. But maybe there is something in between, something at 40- 60 JOD For example? If we follow the schedule I've planned, we really won't be looking for a swimming pool at the hotel at Petra. How do you find reasonable hotels at Petra? All websites I checked only mentioned the 4 very expensive ones.
Before bothering you I checked the Jordan Yellow pages in English. It will be a great resource to pick a hotel in Aqaba (they offer a choice of over 20 hotels), but they don't have anything for Wadi Musa.
Yeah knowing merely the Arabic alphabet and the word "hotel" in Arabic would be enough to check the Arabic version of the Yellow Pages, which would certainly be more complete. But I'm too lazy to start learning a fourth writing system at the moment, and it's not useful enough in Jordan, since I understood that everything on the road is writen with transcriptions in latin letters, and that most people speak English, and sometimes French, German or Russian.

Edit: Never mind!! Searching for "hotels wadi musa" instead of "hotels Petra" brought a choice of hotels under 100 dollars. Thanks again.

Hi mate

A good way to look at different hotel websites in Petra is to look at go2petra website .. it offers you variety of options of hotel websites to check ..
you can pay 40-60 JOD in 3 star and some 4 star hotels... they are good with good standards

good luck and hope u enjoy ur stay!!

Thanks a lot Jebril. I'll certainly use this site to book a room this week-end. I just took 2 minutes to have a look. One of the 3 star hotels asks people to send them their credit card data before even knowing the rates. On an insecured website of course.
But there are others, I'll find one. Thanks!

I have just been to Petra and stayed at Wadi Musa for 3 nights. If you want to check out cheaper places there are many. Refer to Hostelworld and put in Wadi Musa... youll find plenty.

It depends on your idea of "reasonable". I paid 4JD per night at Cliff hostel off of Al Malek Faisal Street, but the room was very basic and the bathroom and shower were shared (toilet paper was also not included, and hot water was unreliable). Still 4JD is a much better price than what you were looking at. The Palace Hotel might be a better budget option.

There was a hotel right next to the Marriott, Petra Moon I think? It was 2-3 stars and about 30-45 JD. There are also your zero star typical hostels, JD15 for a double room with private bath.

Thanks for the advice. I won't go to Jordan this time though.
Just a thing: I pity the girlfriends or wivesof those who suggest hostels and 4JD hotels for a honeymoon.
