In a hotel around 5,-- € a glass, easy to find stores only Madaba and Aquaba, much cheaper there,
don't know about Amman.

At Amman downtown there is bottle shop in AlShabsog street.
You can buy duty free beer and cigs at the Duty Free shop in Tunis street near fifth circle.

Plenty of liquor stores in Amman. Price depends on alcohol content between JD3 and JD5 for 500ml can.
You can buy on arrival at the airport and buy additional beers at the DF in Amman as pointed out by marcopolo. Need to bring your passport for that.

#3 a total tangent - I just 'panicked' with the sentence 'Need to bring your passport for that.' Need to bring it from WHERE? I have travelled in Jordan on 6 different trips both as a tourist and as a volunteer at Archaeological Project sites and at NO time – except when in the shower or in bed – was my passport NOT in my money belt around my waist under my shirt.
Where would a tourist have their passport except in their money belt OR in a secure place within immediate reach if required?

hp2010 .Yes We came to Amamn mid last year when the damascushostel was closed down.
We have started a new hotel in downtown Amman alhamdullah.
we all pray and hope for a quick end to fighting in Syria and return of the good old days soon inshallah.
