Hi
I've posted here before re Petra and got some really terrific tips. Hoping for the same again. Based on previous advice, we have settled on spending either one or two nights in Petra before heading back to Tel Aviv. This is where the advice part comes in (pls):

1) we are traveling on the 12th sept. do we need to book accomo in advance? We plan to stay at the more budget conscious type accommo (travelling on Rands!). Can we wing it when we arrive? Or is it cheaper to book on the Internet in advance?

2) good prices are shown for the Peace Way Hotel and Rocky Mountain Hotel and Orient Gate Hotel - do you have any insights in these?

3) any other tips?

We are so excited for our Israel / Jordan trip. Any advice you have would be terrific and appreciated.

Sammi

Take time to spend two nights in Petra and, if possible, be there for one of the Petra by candlelight evenings. It's worth the additional 12 JD, I think.
Also, one day in Petra is enough if you're really pressed for time, but 2 days is so much better. Only another 5 JD for the additional day.

Rock Mountain is cheap and gets excellent reviews but, to my mind, is a little far away from Petra, so you need to plan well and factor in taxi rides to and from the site. Don't know the others you mention. Friends stayed at Cleopatra and I stayed at Sa'na (I think - names escape me with alacrity); both nice places and more central.
