I am hearing from a few different places that the Multiple Entry Visa has been discontinued and is no longer attainable. Obviously for those who use the Allenby bridge to get to and from Israel into Jordan this is an inconvenience. Questions:
Is it true?
Which of the other crossings is most efficient in terms of time, Israeli border security delays, onward travel etc

1/ It is advisable to obtain a Jordanian multiple-entry visa before departure, have you contacted your countries embassy/consulate? In the UK, a Jordanian 180 day multiple- entry visa costs £99.
2/ It depends on your circumstances.
I did the Allenby bridge crossing last week on my single entry Jordanian visa that I got at the airport and was fine.
Sandyfoot: I am aware of the cost, I have had a multiple-entry visa in the past, the point of the post is that several places, including the embassy in London, have said they are no longer issuing multiple entry visas unless there is a specific business requirement. My question is whether that information is consistent with what anyone else has experienced recently or whether it is a local decision, we all know how these inconsistencies occur.
Paddox: Cheers for the reply, I've never tried it before because they claim it isn't supposed to be possible, I guess with all these things it is down to the luck of who is on the other side of the desk at the time.
I think the logic (in that there isn't any) is that Jordan doesn't recognise the West Bank as Israeli territory, therefore it is not a land border, so you can go in and out of that crossing on a single entry visa. Israel obviously recognises it as a border crossing and so issues Israeli visas to get in.
You need to have acquired a Jordanian visa before doing the Allenby crossing, ie from tel aviv or from entering Jordan by air or another land crossing.
The crossing was pretty brutal from Jordan to Israel. I went on a Saturday; as it's the weekend sorting out transport from allenby brodge to Jerusalem was more challenging. It took around six and a half hours to travel from amman to Jerusalem. It took around half the time on the return trip. The Jordanian security is a lot more relaxed and quick.
