We (2 people) are planning a trip to Israel next Spring and want to spend 2 nights/3 days in Jordan on a group tour of Petra and Wadi Rum. I would like to hire a local (Jordanian, not Israeli) tour company or guide to meet us at either Allenby or Aqaba border. We are looking for mid-range cost, so might mean a group, rather than private tour.

We had a name of an Aqaba-based guide when we attempted to include this in an earlier trip but I cannot find the gentleman's name now.

Any suggestions? We are not interested in doing an unescorted taxi or bus trip and are aware that if we change our mind, there is lot of info available on how to do it.

Thanks.

Hello,
I can advice you to contact Jordan Nomads, I traveled several time with this team in Wadi Rum, and it was so great each time ! They adapt exactly to your wishes, and their price are quite good, for a very good service ! I did horse riding, and then last time I went there, I did a hiking tour : walk during the day, in wonderful landscapes, and nights under the stars, around the open fire, sharing music and bedouin jokes and stories !
They can pick you up at the border, and maybe you can join a group, so the price will be even more low I guess !!
Enjoy ;-)

Thanks, Stef8377 - just visited their website and it looks great. Did you join up with them in Eilat/Aqaba or at the Allenby Bridge border?

I've never been to Israel, but I shared the tour with people coming from Eilat border, so I know it´s possible from there, and maybe from Allenby bridge too...!

My advice would be to travel with a reputable LICENSED company. They are more likely to give what you paid for. And should any problems occur, you can complain with the Ministry of Tourism. They give out the licenses to a happy few.
I personally like Jezra Travel and Jordan Beauty.
