looking for recommendations for accom in Wadi Musa for my partner and I. Looking for dbl room with ensuite apart from that just clean and on the budget side. Any recommendations appreciated.

We were there last month. Looked at about six budget hotels, none of which were especially attractive.
In the end we picked Petra Gate - it's a bit frayed, but has friendly management, good views, walking distance to cafes and ATM, and free wireless. JD20 for a double with shower/WC.

I stayed in the Petra Palace Hotel which is situated close to the Petra entrance. It has rooms ensuite and is clean but not too fancy.

hi thefizz I'm after more information on the Petra Palace hotel. I like getting direct information from people who've stayed in a place before contacting the hotel itself.
You say it's close to the Petra entrance. How far a walk is it to the site?
Are there shops and/or cafes nearby?
Is there a view from the hotel rooms?
How much did you pay per night?
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to these queries.
Regards
Ebony

The Petra Palace hotel is only 5 minutes walk to the entrance gate.
There are shops and cafes beside it.
My room only had a view over the swimming pool. Other rooms might have better views but I don't know.
I can't remember how much I paid but think it was $95 per night for a double room.
This hotel was recommended to me by a friend who stayed there last year. He said it was very good etc but I thought it was just ok. I think it is described as a 3 star but that might be a bit exaggerated. If you are used to staying in hostels and cheap hotels then the Petra Palace will seem fine to you.
The Petra Palace is overpriced and mediocre. Try the Sunset Hotel right next door.
All the hotels down at the gate are expensive apart from the Sunset Hotel. Its much cheaper to stay up in town (Wadi Musa) then walk/taxi down/up every day. The taxi ride from town to the gate is only 2 JD ; add 4 JD (return trip) to the cost of a Wadi Musa hotel and it will still be way cheaper than a hotel down by the gate.
