Hi,

Asking for some advice from you. Im planning to go to Jordan on August for 6 days and then go to Israel for a couple of more days. I will rent a car so I think this could help in time to get to the places and could be easir to reach some points.

So this is my plan, maybe a little bit ambicious, but asking for your advice if its possible or not.

Day 1 - Aqaba do Wadi Rum for a day tour in the desert and leaving after the sunset to Petra. Its easier to drive at night in Jordan. I will do this 121 km by car.

Day 2 - Petra

Day 3 - On this day my doubts start. Its possible to do something like Petra to Karak, and then Mujib Biosphere Reserve and the Dead Sea on the same day? guess not. So I think that I will put off Karak.

So maybe Petra to Mujib Biosphere Reserve and then the Dead Sea Highway and sleep in Mukawir.

Day 4 - Mukawir, Madaba, Mount Nebo and Wadi Jahib. I think the distances are short and I guess with a areally earlier morning start I can cover all this sites.

Day 5 - Jerash and go to Amman.

Day 6 - Amman.

Any ideas or advices for this route. Possible or not?

Thank You

"Wadi Jahib" - do you mean Wadi Mujib or a different one?
Sleep in Mukawir - where?
When you say you'll visit the Mujib Biosphere Reserve, and do what? It's focused on a wadi with organised hikes through it and you can only visit with a guide, though there are other wadis in the reserve area. Are you proposing to walk up one of them?
Where will you sleep between day 4 and day 5?
"Its easier to drive at night in Jordan." - You seem certain of that statement. It's not difficult at all to drive during the day, but I wouldn't say it is easier at night. You've driven in Jordan before, I take it?

As for driving, its not like there's a lot of traffic or anything....Plan an extra day in Petra. You'd be NUTS to try to do this in one day, especially in August. ITS HUGE and its going to be very hot at this time of year... i see you mention nothing of the Dead Sea....Very easy to drive there so why not an afternoon there.?? Be sure to bring a few gallons of fresh water to rinse off! You don't have to do this in Israel in other words...Same dead sea, just different side and free if you want it to be!!

If you have the car, we did Jerash in the morning, then the dead sea in the afternoon, and a few other stops in between in one day last year by car rental. Enterprise rents reasonably cheap and will deliver the car and pick it up at any hotel you want...27 JD per day or something close..

Are you planning on enjoying anything you see? I would spend the night at a camp in Wadi Rum and leave for Petra on the morning of day 2. Spend the rest if day 2 and day 3 in Petra. Leave on day 4 towards Amman, detouring for a float in the Dead Sea. If you want to see Madaba, stay there on day 4. Leave on day 5 to Jerash and work in Mount Nebo, returning to Amman on day 6. Amman is worth maybe half a day.

But truthfully, I'd go for Wadi Rum, Petra, and Jerash with stops in Amman and the Dead Sea and even that would be rushed for 6 days. You're trying to do too much.

Hi,

It's a pity to go to Wadi Rum only to be at the back of a Hilux or Land Cruiser for a formatted tour of the central part of the Rum during two hours (or maybe less)

Why don't you stay there for the night? Outside of course, under the stars…

Why choosing to visit Amman (…) for a full day and don't stay no more in Petra? One day (in Petra) is not enough. One day in Amman is one too much…

Even is Jordan is a compact country, try to have a realistic program…

You need two full days to visit Petra.

Driving during the day is fine, driving during the night is nuts. There is not a lot of traffic at night = locals drive like maniacs. Not to mention that it's super easy to get lost as there are few road signs, and no public lighting on the roads.

Tks for all the help that you gave in this topic.

After read all your posts I decided to sleep in the desert and do the jeep tour. Also Im gonna spend two days in Petra.

1 day to Dead Sea and the other one to Jerash, and then go to Amman for half day.

Next day I will go to Israel.

Anyone knows if its possible to stop in Jericho after cross the Kings Hussein Bridge?

You can stop in Jericho, of course. You'll need to either take a taxi (they're quite expensive) or take a bus (you may have to wait until it fills up) to Jericho. Once there, there are service taxis (minibus) to Jerusalem.
