...look out for Feb 22, 2009, when Jordan wins an Oscar!

Captain Abu Raed, Jordan's entry for the the 2009 Best Foreign Film Oscar, opens in a special Academy Award-qualifying one-week run starting tomorrow (Nov. 7) at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The film has won the World Cinema Audience Award at Sundance this year along with 15 other major festival awards and has just been picked up for US distribution for release in February by NeoClassics Films. Here's the info:

Captain Abu Raed is a must see. Very simple story, but very well done. Certainly one of the better films of the year and we enjoyed every minute of it (in an almost empty theater). Weird enough a lot of Jordanians never even heard of it. Such a shame.
