Hi everyone,

I'm a 22-year old solo backpacker and I plan on passing by Jordan in early October.

Does anyone have any good experiences or personal recommendations for youth hostels in Madaba or Amman? I'm looking to meet other backpackers and would ideally like hostels with shared rooms (to also cut down on expenses)! Being close to public transportation is also ideal, since I'm on a budget!

Thanks in advance!

Dustin

Although I personally prefer Madaba over Amman, for what you're looking for Amman is your better choice.

I don't have a recommendation, but I'm sure marcopolo will be here at some point to steer you in the right direction.

Good luck.

There are actually quite a few cheap places in the downtown area, especially around the Hussein Mosque. You might also consider Farah Hotel/Hostel on Al-Hussein St., they have decent prices and is well known.

Indeed Amman is better choice than Madaba.and downtown is the perfect place to stay.
You have choice from these western orientated hostels Abbasi Palace Burj Alarab, ,Farah hotel,Palace hotel or Jordan Tower. These establishmensts also organise tours for their guests.

Jordan Tower gets the best reviews on hostelbooker/hostelworld - probably because it's the newest, and perhaps the older ones are resting on their reputations a bit?
I stayed there, in a dorm room, for a night last Spetember and found it thorougly enjoyable.
