There has been some question about getting from the Rabin crossing (at Eilat) to Petra. We just did this a couple of days ago, and there was a taxi dispatcher who said the set price was 55 JD, and there was no negotiating about it. The driver we got wad great, and we hired him to take us from Petra to the Allenby Bridge (also called the King Hussein Bridge) for 60 JD. If your hotel tells you the price is 70 or higher, stand you ground and insist on 60 JD.
TIP for crossing from Jordan at the Allenby Bridge to Israel: make sure you have 4 JD per person and 1.5 JD per bag for the bus that takes you from Jordan to Israel.
There is no choice about it: you must take the bus.

That is helpful information.

Two things; 1) When you ask questions here, seek advice and then receive it, it's always polite to acknowledge the response (referring to your other post).

2) To imply there are no negotiations on pretty much anything in this area of the world is incorrect. You can always negotiate a taxi ride. Whether or not you're successful depends on demand (on or off season) and how badly that specific driver wants your business. 55JD may be the going rate, but it is not set in stone.
