I'm looking for a reliable driver to take us from the Dead Sea resort to Bethany / Mount Nebo / Madaba and then finally to drop us off at the airport around 7.30pm that same day. As we'll have to leave our backpacks in the car for the visits I am trying to find a recommended driver rather than any random taxi off the street. I already have a quote from our resort but it is so expensive, so any help would be very appreciated.

For a whole day trip you should really budget about 60JOD, as the driver has to take into account the waiting time.
Mount Nebo won't take you long (you'll need about 30 minutes there) but you need half a day to see Madaba properly. I don't know how long Bethany would take as I haven't been there. From Madaba to the airport is about 45 min.
We were lucky to have found a great driver through our hotel in Jerash, he was very reliable, honest and knowledgeable.
You can email him for a quote, tell him exactly what you want to see- he might even be a bit cheaper, depending on what time you want to leave your hotel.
