I'm in Jordan in September and need to get from Petra to Madaba, I'd thought of getting a taxi and wondered how long it would take and what it might cost?

Also I plan to buy a two day ticked for entrance to Petra but wondered if it is for two consecutive days or can you have a a day in between?

I believe the two day ticket can be used on any two days; does not need to be consecutive.

My suggestion is to get a shared taxi between Wadi Musa and Madaba. If you haven't already done so, you can take the very scenic King's Highway and stop at various points of interest along the way. If done this way it costs around 35JD and takes eight hours.

If you just want to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible then take the very boring Desert Highway and it takes around three hours. Not sure what the cost would be in a private taxi.

Good luck.

As suggested by above post a shared taxi I might add it can only be organised by your good hotel in Petra especially by the Kings Hwy each pays around 25 jd.it takes 5/6 hours including various stops.

If you were to stay in Mariam Hotel in Madaba they would probably arrange a taxi to pick you up.

The cost of a trip via King's Highway via Kerak Castle shouldn't be more than 50JOD, but in Petra the taxi drivers might ask for more.

If you were going the other way the Mariam Hotel has very good deals on minibus trips- check their website.
