Cheap hotel - Aqaba.

Cheapest I found in Aqaba was 10 JD,and those rooms weren't even available. Most tried to get me for 12-15. In the end, two others and I rented a house that someone offered us for 20 JD, including a breakfast. It was a great deal. This was last year in May. Plan on 12-15 for a single.

"Way more expensive" is a relative term. If the difference between Aqaba and Amman is ten Dinar, less than eleven Euro, then to someone on the bread line I'd agree. But to someone who can afford to travel to foreign countries? Are you the type who decides to travel and then tries to squeeze the maximum effect out of the smallest amount of money? Including promoting bad feeling by haggling with everyone over a minimal amount?

Each to their own I suppose but to me a night or three where I get 'ripped off' by paying a few Euro more than in a different city on my travels is of no consequence.

Comeon onlyMark.....really you are a bit out of line. He asked a question and it was answered. He's a budget traveler, like myself, so when rates go up 300% (perhaps you should look at it that way instead), it IS way more expensive. Perhaps your spending budget is that much bigger than a great deal of others, and congrats to you. Perhaps if your budget which might have been 50 euro a night suddenly went to 150 euro a night without any change, wouldn't it cause you to take note???.

There are places in Egypt, Jordon, and many others where you can pay 2 or 200,.....everybody has a different budget and you need to show a little more respect. FYI slilly2013, when you do go to Petra, ask where the locals get their water. Instead of paying the ridiculous 1-2 euro for a bottle,( is this cheap or frugal or intelligent????) you can refill up to 15 liters about 200 meters from the Saba' hotel. Its' a filling station and perfectly clean. The saba hotel dorm by the way, is very nice, clean, and about the best value around including breakfast..... It's about 9 JD but that's Petra for you....Couchsurfing is also an option there...

Equating percentages may work if you want. But a hundred Euro increase in your example is actually a 1000% of a ten Euro increase. Not quite the same in real life than just saying both are three times as much. There's a far greater difference to paying 100 Euro more as opposed to paying 10 Euro more.
For Pete's sake, it's ten euros........... You'll be rubbish bin diving next to save money. I can't see the enjoyment of travelling if you spend more time, with an ever decreasing effect, to save the last penny. In any case, "way more expensive' doesn't mean 10 Euros more when you are talking about accommodation for a night - unless you're the type of person to always try and follow round a tour group so you can get the benefit of the guide without having to pay for it yourself and haggle the ten cents difference with a tuk tuk driver between what you want to pay and what he wants to charge.

If you can find a room for the night for twelve to fifteen euros, that's a bonus in itself.

Think you are missing the point.

As TravellinAndi has stated not everyone can afford to spend a lot of money per night on accommodation and finding good value places can allow people to extend them amount of time they actually spend travelling.

Yes maybe its only 10 euros per night but if you times that by 30 days then its a considerable sum for a budget traveller.

I stayed at the Jordan Flower for 12JD 2 weeks ago. It was ok, but i got the feeling i could have got it for less if i'd bothered to bargain. There were two idiot teenagers there who thought it was funny to play knock and run on everyones door, although obviously thats not the hotels fault!

It does seem a bit more expensive than Amman, where i paid half that price.
