Hi,

Does anyone have recent experience of the Aqaba-Nuweiba fast ferry? Looking at the Maritime website it seems that it departs daily (except Sat) from Aqaba at 1300hrs. I've also read reports that it's not very reliable and is often cancelled. How busy is it and do I need to book tickets well in advance.

Once in Nuweiba, can I obtain an Egyptian visa on arrival and how easy is it to get to Sharm airport?

Thanks.

The late nite (about 1am departure) slow ferry always runs because it is the car/truck ferry and is important for commercial traffic. Even when the day ferries were cancelled due to high seas, the night ferry operated. We boarded, immediately did our immigration, asked the steward for a private cabin, and for JD15 extra, had a double cabin with ensuite bathroom. Went to bed, woke up in Nuweibeh around 5:30am--were in Dahab in time for breakfast and the first dive of the day. Tickets for ferries can be obtained from the Arab Bridge Maritime offices downtown Aqaba--near Homam Supermarket--the same day.
I got my visa at the consulate in Aqaba--but getting it on the boat didn't seem to be a problem.

How much is the night ferry?

Same price as the day ferry--sleeping cabins are JD10 (single) JD15 (double). If you're bringing a car--tariffs are on Arab Bridge Maritime's web page.

Has anyone done this recently. Can you get a visa on board still?
