I will be in Aqaba for only 24 hours and I do not know exactly what to do there since I do not want to spend my few hours in the city going to beach. I am thinking of hiring a taxi for a few hours to see the entire region. I would like to see beautiful landscapes, historical sites and museums. Where should I go?
Is there a Red Sea boat tour ?
I would also like to see the famous Red Sea coral reefs , is there any place that takes people who have no experience in diving for a easy dive ?
I would also like a hotel indication , the price does not matter but it is well located for those who will be shortly in the city.

I appreciate the help

In Aqaba itself there isn't much to see, there is a "castle" with a small museum, for the rest Aqaba is for swimming, diving, etc. Most hotels are near each other, with the more expensive ones having sea view. Maybe you can go to the Wadi Rum desert, beautiful place and about 90 minutes drive from Aqaba.

check this local tour operator, jordanain tours agents , as it's better to have such activities, like diving, snorkeling, boat tour for couple hours and maybe 2 - 3 hours jeep tour in wadi rum etc. organized through an agency, it will save your the headache of asking around!

hope this would help!

Thank you rin181 and katatonia1 . I forgot to say that Aqaba will be the last place of my 15 days trip in Jordan , I will be in Wadi Rum at first.

Most of the sights you could see in Aqaba in 24 hours are clustered around the centre and could theoretically be covered on foot. The Citadel and the ruins of Byzantne and Medieval Aqaba are central, free (at least I snuck into the Citadel for free; I think it nominally charges for entry), and just about worth the price of admission. Can't help you with diving advice.

In 2007 I stayed at the "Nairoukh" which wasn't wonderful but was relatively cheap and central. It had aircon, one of those old window units that sounds like a train. I paid 14 dinar (about 13 Euros at the time). I wouldn't recommend staying in any place in Aqaba that doesn't have aircon - you won't sleep.
