has anyone taken royal jordanian air (or any smaller carriers) for a R/T between Amman and Erbil any time recently? I am wondering about prices/availability, as one cannot ascertain the fare from RJ online booking mechanism at the moment.

Last time I heard a couple of months back its still very expensive
somewhere around the 700 JD mark I was told.
Maybe one of the Turkish operators are cheaper. Does it have to
be from Amman because now quite a few airlines go there
Yes, these tickets cost a lot. At least JD 500. On the plus side, there are daily flights available and although the planes are usually quite full one can get a seat even at short notice. The aircraft used to be a crappy, unreliable, small tin box without any markings operated by some sub-contractor, but nowadays it is a proper, relatively big Royal Jordanian aircraft.
