Hi,

I'm just looking for a common sense check on this itinerary for 1 week in Jordan with my girlfriend in mid-October:

Day 0 - Land at Amman airport 20.00, transfer to Mabada
Day 1 - Trip to see Mt Nebo, float in Dead Sea and see Ma'in hot springs, look round Mabada
Day 2 - Take the Mariam Bus down King's Highway to Petra. Hopefully stop at Dana for photos in addition to Wadi Mujib and Karak
Days 3 & 4 - Petra
Day 5 - Early taxi to Wadi Rum, all day Jeep trip plus camping
Day 6 - Taxi to Aqaba. Check into dive club to use their facilities and snorkel off beach. Evening bus to Amman
Day 7 - Depending on energy levels; either public bus to and from Jerash and then a quick look round Amman, or just a full day in Amman. Taxi to airport at around 18:00.

Hotels would be the Mariam, Rocky Mountain, Rum Stars, Amman Pasha

And a few questions:

  • Day 0 is likely to be either a Thursday or a Sunday. Would it make any difference which? Are the churches at Mabada closed on any particular day? Friday would be Day 1 / Day 5 if that makes a difference.
  • Would it be easy to get the King's Highway transfer service to stop at Dana for a short while?
  • Does anyone have any recommendations / preferences for Royal Dive Club or Club Murjan for snorkeling?

Many thanks,

Bedknobs.

Your itinerary looks OK. It's a bit rushed, but you know your travel style and what you're trying to accomplish.

The best way to deal with your trip between Madaba and Petra is to have the Miriam arrange your own taxi or share the taxi with others who want to do what you want to do. Yes, it may be a problem to have them stop at Dana if you're with others who don't want to do that. If they all want to get to Wadi Musa they won't take to kindly to you wanting to stop at Dana.

Have a great trip.

Thanks laketraveller.

Hopefully the lack of other responses is because no one can improve on my plan ;P
