I fly into Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion) on the 30th of September late at night. I have to be back at the airport in the morning to meet a friend. I'm not picky and really just like having a bed and a shower. Is there any hostel or accommodation close to the airport that is relatively inexpensive? Furthermore, what is the best mode of transport to get there after 10 pm at night? Thank you.

I am in Israel, and would like to go to Petra, from Tel Aviv. Should I go to Eilat first? What do I need to know about crossing the border, tour in Petra (I was told that there is an Israeli Tourist office there that offers tours) and then I would like to go to Wadi Rum, and spend the night and visit the desert. From there I would return to Eilat and then Tel Aviv. Any suggestions? I would like to do this from October 2nd to 4th or 5th...

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Israel in Jan 2010, and I only have 9 nights to spend there:

3 days/2nights - Eilat
4 days/3 nights - Jerusalem
3 days/2 nights - Dead Sea/Ein Gedi
3 days/2 nigths - Tel Aviv

Does this make sense if I'm also traveling by Bus from each region to another - starting in Eilat and then flying out of Tel Aviv. (The previous week I will spend 6 days/5 nights in Cairo and Sharm el Sheik and travel from Sharm to Taba to Eilat)

Thanks!

In a future episode of The Simpsons to be shown in 2010, The Simpsons travel to Israel where Homer Simpson of course gets the Jerusalem Syndrome and believes he is the Messiah. Sacha Baron Cohen plays an aggresive tour guide who guides their church group tour of the Holy Land. The show's executive producer Al Jean told the Entertainment Magazine magazine that "the tour guide is trying to get Marge to give him good grades on the comment card, and she goes, 'You people are pushy,' and he goes…

Hi there,

I'm going to be in Israel with my mother from Dec. 27-Jan.2, and would like to hire a car and driver who can take us around. My mother wants to see the highlights -- Masada, the Wailing Wall, Dead Sea Scrolls, and Yom Hashoah -- but she also wants to try to track down a family kibbutz. We'll be arriving late in Tel Aviv on the 27th, and are flying out early morning on the 2nd.

Do any of you have recommendations for a good driver that can also potentially serve as a guide?

Thanks!

Hi

Can anybody recommend anyone who twitters regularly about what's new in Tel Aviv in terms of bars, cafes and restaurants and generally "what's on" but in English not Hebrew.

Thanks very much

I have a few questions about crossing into Israel from Jordan on the 20th (last day of Rosh and first day of Eid).

1) Is the Allenby Bridge crossing open? If so, what are the hours? I think it might be closed during Eid.

2) My plan is to cross in the north at the Jordan River crossing -- is this ok to do on the 20th? Will be it be open, and what are the hours? And once i'm on the other side of the border, what are the transport options? Will it be possible for me to get to Jerusalem, maybe via…

Hello

Soon we are going to spend two days in Tiberias and around the Sea of Galilea. One of these two days will be Shabbat.

On shabbat it will be hard (impossible ?) to move. Our idea is to rent bikes and cycle around the lake. The LP says that it's about 55 km and that it's not too hilly. And since it's going to be in the last days of october we assume that it's not going to be too hot.

We would be interested in having comments about this. Is it a good idea ?

If it's not we will maybe rent…

Hello

I'm off to Israel in about a month and I realized that I have a tunisian stamp in my passport.

I'm not really worried about this but I would like someone to confirm me that I'm not going to have any problems when arriving at Ben Gourion airport.

Thanks
