Dear TTers

Thanks a lot for the information you provided in my previous post. I am leaving for Israel within hours.

Two quick requests:

  • anyone knows where I can have my watch repaired in Jerusalem? I just need to change the battery. Since I'll spend a considerable amount of time there, I can leave it for one day to be repaired and I can pick it up the day after.

  • if you have any information of New Year's Eve events in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem (especially concerts) please share!

How do you pay for a bus from Jerusalem (both those for Israel and Palestinian territories). Do we need to pre buy a ticket or do you pay cash to the driver and do you need the correct change?

I'm looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Tsfat. I contacted one of the guesthouses that was recommended by LP and on TripAdvisor. The owner asked if we're married. As it happens, we are. But, to be honest, I'm not terribly comfortable staying at a place that would turn us away if we weren't married. Or if we were gay.

I realise that different people have different beliefs about relationships and sexuality, but this isn't something I can agree to disagree on. How can I look my friends in…

Apologies if this has come up before, I have trawled the site for the last few weeks on lots of bits for our upcoming Israel trip, but have not managed to quite find the answer for this one.

My question is about crossing from Amman to Tel Aviv – specifically during Shabbat, and more specifically on new years eve, so Sat 31 Dec.

Where I am at with it:
- Lots of information about the King Hussein / Allenby crossing, which is great (thanks to all the people for posting about this stuff!), and I…

having received a lot of advice here on TT about visiting the dead sea, i though it only fair to report back on the experience.
we had planned to stop at ein bokek, but were running out of time before dark after our visit at matzada, so we just stopped at the ein gedi beach site. contrary to what i had learned on TT, this was just what we were looking for - showers and changing rooms available for only 2 shekels, and easy access to the beach. my young nephew spent half an hour floating and was…

Understanding this might be controversial, I would like to see both sides of the dispute. I am already visiting the Palestinian side of the West Bank, but are there any tours of Jewish settlements departing from Jerusalem ? If it matters, my travel companion is a non-Jewish American and I am a Jewish American.

Tel-O-Fun, the Tel Aviv bicycle rental company set up by the municipality is finally offering daily and weekly rentals (and not only extended periods as it did before) and so it's relevant for tourists.
It's the perfect way to see the city.
How it works:
You go to one of the many automated rental stations ( http://www.tel-o-fun.co.il/en/TelOFunLocations.aspx ), pay 14 NIS (20 NIS on weekends and holidays) with your credit card and you get a 24 hour pass.
