Does anyone has experience with the strictnesss of the Sudaness border control regarding checking previous countries you passed through on your overland trip (carnet and passport)?
Because of the current unrest in Syria and cancellation of ferry`s to Egypt from Europe/Turkey, one possibility is to go with a ferry to Haifa (Israel). You can ask the Israeli border security to put stamps on a paper outside your passport. Then you travel to Jordan, but if you pass the border, Jordan will put in a…
Hi all,
Am interested to go on a one-day wine tour. Any good winery to recommend? I dont mind staying over one night in the north (Golan Heights/Galilee) so I can explore Nazareth as well.
Thanks!
If you are thinking of renting a cell (mobile) phone or SIM card in Israel, here is a good company to deal with: TalkNSave; [http://www.talknsave.net/default.aspx].
The procedure is that you pick the plan and features you want, and they then arrange to get the SIM card or phone to you. At the end of your trip, you simply drop the hardware in the mail at the airport.
I have an unlocked iPhone, and wanted to have a SIM card with as much data as possible, and just a little bit of talk and text…
Hey Everyone;
I have a couple questions about my trip to the middle east this summer...
I have pretty much worked out which cities I want to go to and its something like this:
Aswan - Luxor (nile cruise) night train to Cairo
Cairo for a few days
Cairo - Mt. Sinai/St. Catherine to walk it
I was thinking it would be nice to go to one Red Sea beach city. I was thinking Nuweiba, Eilat or Aqaba since they seem the closest to the other cities in my itinerary but I am having trouble deciding which one is…
There is a new backpackers in Mitzpe Ramon called Mati and Roni's desert guest-tent. It's right in the centre of town and very friendly, contact Mati_ronis@walla.com Tel. 050-5903661, or just turn up.
Worth a visit, for a day or 2 anyway. The pedestrian cobblestone street has restaurants, coffee shops, bars and shopping, some historical sites. And then there's the Rothchild gardens (free!). Beach is 15 minutes away, as is Caesaria. Haifa is 30 min. away, and within an hour you can get to Tel Aviv or Tiberius.
Easy access by train from nearby Binyamina.
Hey all,
I'm currently thinking of travelling to Israel & Jordan or Cuba end of this year (mid-November/December) and was wondering if anyone has done any volunteering in these countries (preferably working with children)? I'm planning to travel for 4-5 weeks.
Any recommendations would be very very helpful :)
Thanks!
Hi
this is a bit of a long post, just a warning but any help would be great!
My family and I are going to Israel and we would like to add a day trip to Petra, is it better to go to Petra from Jerusalem or Eilat? and I believe you can get into Jordan via israel with a tour you just have to pay a tax at the border (or so I'm told)
In addition to that, I plan on staying in Israel for another 2-3 weeks and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations where to stay, (maybe for a week-week and…
Hi - I'm arriving at TLV-Airport on 2:30 am on a Saturday and heading for Jerusalem. Prob. no buses around this time and day. Any suggestions (shared taxis, taxi, privat buses) for transportation to Jerusalem at this daytime? Thanks a lot.
Gerhard
Hi all,
I'm going to be in the ME in a few weeks, and wanted to cross through Israel overland to hit Petra. Of course the issue is that I'm planning to cross on a Saturday. I know that generally public transportation etc shuts down, and was wondering if anyone has tried this? Is it possible, or am I going to wind up crossing the border and be stuck looking for a hotel for the night?
I'd appreciate any advice--if it will be the latter I'll just spend an extra night in Egypt!
Cheers
MsLizzyTish
