Hi all,

I'm going to visit both Jordan & Israel. Which side offer a better float & swim in the Dead Sea? I would like to stay on budget so suggestions on beaches with good value are welcome.
I know this question might has been asked for thousands of times & answers have been repeated again & again, so I really thank & appreciate your tips :)

Cheers,
WK

I'm thinking about a short trip to Israel this autumn or winter.

I've heard a lot about the israeli immigration service and I was wondering wether I would have any problems.

Seeing that my passport have stamps from Iran, Uzbekistan and other, lets say not that Israel friendly countries, would that be a big problem for me?

I'm thinking about getting a new passport, but if I have to state other countries I've been to lately, that would amongst others include Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen…

Hey, I am going to Eilat for about a week in september and want to do some diving.
I am a bit rusty as I haven't been diving for a few years, so would prefer a company that is not too big where I can feel safe.
Does anyone have suggestions?

Hi All,

I've only posted on Thorn Tree a couple of times, however, I use it all the time and get many good tips and advice by reading other travellers posts. However, although again I can see much information with regards to itineries I just wanted to write my own post to get a bit of extra help in my decision making!

My husband and I (both mid thirties) have travelled extensively but have never really experienced the Middle East, so this year we have decided to visit both Jordan and Israel…

Will be flying from Tel Aviv on a 630am flight to Eilat and wanted to know the best way to get to Petra and if this is suggested to do without a tour group. Once we cross border into Jordan, how long is a taxi ride and will they take dollars or shekels? Thank you.

Well here goes my first post on the Thorn Tree...been using for years and now it's finally time to dive in!

I'll be in Israel/Palestine for a couple weeks over Christmas, flying out at 5:00am on January 1st from Tel Aviv. We'll be in Bethlehem our last days, and ideally would take late-night transit from Bethlehem that last night and hop on to our flight.

What is the best option for transportation late and night, how long would it take, and what would be the cost? We're willing to spend a bit…

Hi there. I am thinking of heading to Israel next year for a months trip. I would like to spend two weeks traveling around in the country and two weeks in Jerusalem. I will be staying at hostels and cheap guest houses and I really prefer to travel when it is not the busy season as I like not having to book ahead for lodging and having to stick to a schedule. Is this possible to do in Israel? There seems to be lots of Jewish holidays that people travel and gather for but not being Jewish I…

Hi,

I guess this is a recurring question but how problematic can it be travelling to Israel with a laptop?
I've read stories of people being interrogated and their email searched at the airport.

I understand if my laptop is checked for explosives but I wouldn't never give away my password for accessing my data. If that really happens sometimes I prefer to leave my laptop at home. What are your experiences?

If it's of any relevance: I am a young male traveler with an EU citizenship and it's my…
