Hi there
I just wanted to find out about the best way to travel to Tiberias from Ben Gurion airport. I have seen that there is a direct bus, but some people have said that it is not the most comfortable, and suggested a sherut. Does anyone know what number sherut goes to Tiberias, and how much it should cost? Or if there is any other options - no direct trains, and not sure about driving in Israel...

Thanks in advance - this is a great website BTW

I don't know where you are getting your information from, because none of it is remotely correct.
There is no direct bus from Ben-Gurion airport to Tiberias, and there is no sherut on that route. (And sheruts do not have route numbers.) Not only are there no direct trains to Tiberias, there are no trains whatsoever to Tiberias.
When will you be arriving? Day of the week and time? If it is a time when public transport is not running (between Friday afternoon at around 3 and Saturday night), your only option is a taxi or rental car.
When public transport is running, there are various options. Either train to Haifa and a bus from there - trains run through the night, but buses from Haifa to Tiberias don't - or else sherut to Jerusalem and bus from there.
No point in giving all the details until you give the date and time of your arrival. A 3 a.m. arrival on a Saturday is not the same as a 3 p.m. arrival on a weekday!

If U are not driving . assuming that you are landing BG airport
during weekdays .... your Best option : train/bus combined

  1. Take the train : ** BG airport - Haifa** (lev-ha-mifratz station)
the train runs 2-3 times each hour
it takes ca. 90 min. and the cost ca. $11

  2. Take the bus number 430 Haifa - Tiberias
the bus station is 3 min. walk from the train
( ask people for the bus station = Merkazit Ha-Mifratz )
you have twice an hour a bus that goes to Tiberias in 60 min.
the cost is ca. $8 .

Have A Nice Day
Cheers - Dave

You have received public transport travel instructions. As the first person replying indicated the buses do NOT go 24/7 so information as to when you are arriving is needed.

Furthermore whomever told you buses are uncomfortable is just plain wrong. Inter city buses are coaches with comfortable seats and under the bus storage compartments for your luggage ( you load it yourself) Many have wifi. In fact, they are MORE comfortable than a sherut to go from city to city. ( except for Nesher which ONLY goes from the airport to Jerusalem) Standard sherut do NOT have anyplace to comfortably leave luggage and it ends up in the middle of the vehicle with people climbing over it to get on and off the vehicle.

As I said, all the information you have been given by "some people" is completely wrong. But until you come back to at least (a) acknowledge the replies you have received, and (b) as requested tell us when you will be arriving - date and time, which is of supreme importance - I for one will not be adding any information to this thread. As already said, there is NO public transport from about 3 p.m. on Friday until after dark on Saturday, and in addition, if it's relevant, there will likewise be NO public transport from about 3 p.m. on Tuesday June 3 until after dark on Wednesday June 4, which is the Jewish religious holiday of Shavuot. And no sherut to Tiberias (from anywhere) on those days either.
I'm happy to help, but only if I get the vital information from you.
