Hi forumers,

I'm pretty sure that question has already been asked a million times, but I didn't find anything in the main thread and I'm a bit to worried to seek every page of the forum... So sorry

I'm just starting a journey through Israel and Jordan, and arrived in Israel this morning by plane. I asked, just in case (you never know where the wind's gonna blow), to get the entry stamp on a seperate sheet of paper. That request has been accepted, and I got questionned for a few minutes after that about my purpose of visit.

It had been a very long travelling night, I was tired and a bit stressed anyway so when the security guard had done with me, I left to get my luggage. It's only 10 minutes after that I realized that he never gave me the sheet of paper with the stamp on it back! So here I'm in Israel without but my plane ticket any proof that I didn't get in the country illegaly.

Is that usual? Do you have any idea about what could happen when I'll exit the country?

I don't think it should be a problem as everything is computerised there. Worst that could happen is that you'd need to pay a fine.

If you're really bothered about it, go to the interior ministry office in Jerusalem to get the stamp (Shlomzion Hamalka st off Yaffo st near the old city)

Best to go in the morning the earlier the better. I think they open around 8am.

First, be sure, if you were questioned at the airport - they have a record of that. I would try calling the airport border control (they wont recognize you at first over the phone...) and asking them what to do about this. Do fix this before you leave - I'm sure they wouldn't like it at the border. I hope your flying to Jordan, otherwise any Syrian would understand where you came from.

Thank you for answers

Do you think that would be useful if I went to my consulate(Belgium)? How would they find the fact that I've been trying not to get the stamp? What could they do but advice me to go to immigration office or smth to get the stamp?

I can't really see what your consulate has to do with it. There's little need to worry as it's not a big deal apart from your wish not to have your passport stamped. I myself would enjoy my holiday and deal with it at the airport on the way out.

When I arrived through Tel Aviv they took the bit of paper with the stamp on upon entering the luggage collection area so I was only in possesion of that bit of paper for around 5 seconds. So basically after this there was no way to prove how long I'd been in the country but it didn't seem to matter.

Upon leaving the country I was questioned but I don't know if it was beacuse of the lack of stamp or not (they did not mention the lack of stamp in the questioning).
