Hi there,

I am planning to go to Israel later this year over land from Germany, however, I will nit be able to get back this way because I will have an Israeli stamp in my passport, or at least a leaving stamp that will show that I entered Israel.

Therefore I need to get back together with my car another route. I know that there were ferries at one point but as far as I know, none of them are running any longer. Neither the one that used to go to Greece nor the one that used to go to Italy.

Now, I am looking to ship the car back to somewhere in Europe. I know Grimaldi is shipping cars from Ashkelon, but are there any other shipping companies, as Grimaldi looks rather expensive.

I am happy for any hint or advice, thanks a lot
Eva

There is a weekly ferry from Greece via Cyprus to Haifa. The schedules aren't completely regular but they pretty much leave once very week. But be aware that these ferries are mainly for cargo/lorry truck transport, so don't expect too much in terms of comfort on board.
Contact Salamis shipping or Rosenfeld, their handling agent in Israel, for details on the exact sailing dates and prices.

A few years ago, after a few months in Europe, I took my Volkswagon Camper van via the ferry that George5 mentioned and it worked well. The ferry was OK. We even got off the boat in Cyprus then picked up another boat later in the week. If you are driving from Europe to Israel via Arab countries, be prepared for a big hassle at the border. They will certainly go thru your vehicle with a fine tooth comb. They could even refuse you entry. I suggest that you contact your local Israeli Embassy and tell them what you plan to do. See what they say.
