I plan on renting a car in Israel and would like to drive it from Jerusalem to Masada and the Dead Sea. It seems all rental companies have restrictions on driving the car into the West Bank. Is there any way around this? Any suggestions?

No problem! You're allowed to drive the car to the Dead Sea and Massada.

Thanks! What about Jericho and/or Qumran? They aren't essential stops but since they are en route, I was thinking of stopping at both.

What counts is not whether you're in the WB or not, but whether the area is under full Israeli control or not. If yes, you can go there with an Israel rental car (for example, Qumran, Dead Sea, Masada). If not, you can't go there with an Israel rental car (for example, Jericho).

Thanks so much. I'm a new traveler to Israel and trying to figure all of this out. So excited to go though!

This question is asked at least every two weeks! And a1 has answered it (again). You can drive from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea, and also from Jerusalem to Beit She'an through the Jordan Valley in your rental car if you want to. But you can't drive into Jericho because that city is under Palestinian control. Similarly you can't drive an Israeli rental car into Bethlehem.

Sorry, I read back several posts looking for the answer but could not find it. I know it's probably annoying when people don't take the time to read previous questions but I really did before asking. My apologies. Thanks for the help.

No need to apologise! Have a good trip.
