I and my wife take the liberty of recommending a very nice Family Guest House in Haifa. In case You're planning to go to Haifa for a few days stay, touring the city & using it as the base for travelling in North Israel,we warmly recommend as lodgings (not expensive !!) a small hotel, right in the centre of historic German Colony. It's run by Haddad Family & managed by fantastically helpful chap named Andrew Haddad. We were very suprised to find that it wasn't mentioned in the latest edition of Lonely Planet/Israel Guide. We got their whereabouts by word of mouth recommendation from an Canadian guy.
They don't serve meals, but each room has a private fully equipped kitchinette & the main street of the German Colony (all within minute walking distance) is really full of shops,restaurants,tea-shops & cafes, serving whole range of cuisines from Chinese through Oriental,Israeli,Arab-Lebanese to European.Fantastic feast & treat, and again all at affordable to cheap prices. And on top of it- at least 3 Pubs nearby !!! Gosh-it seems everyone around knows Haddads - how come they're not listed? Or at least mentioned in the Guide?Well-herefore they are strongly recommended. You can reach the chap Andrew & get full info about his place via his site: haddadguesthouse.com
All the best and enjoy Israel & Haifa

Thanks a lot for that! Maybe it's just as well that it isn't listed in LP or it would be forever inundated and we wouldn't find a place to rest our heads. Hopefully we'll find room there next month when we go! Thanks again for passing it on.
