Hi!

My husband and I are planning on staying in tsfat for shabbat. we are looking for nice accommodations, preferably reasonably priced, but we would be willing to pay a bit more for something nicer. We would like to be in or near the old city of tsfat. we also require a kosher hotel or b&b and all that jazz.
any recommendations?
thanks!

I can't recommend anywhere specific, but be warned that unless you book for Saturday night as well you will be thrown out on Shabbat morning (you may not be aware of this, and if you are shomrei Shabbat it's obviously important!).

I don't know how experienced you are with Israeli hotels - generally speaking the food is kosher but the reception desk is manned on Shabbat with guests arriving and departing, unless it's a glatt kosher hotel catering specifically to an Orthodox clientele.

there are plenty of places in israel that wll let you have an late check out so you don't get kicked out on saturday morning but don't have to book another entire night. sometimes there's a fee, sometimes there's not. (usually the places where there's no fee are religious or cater to the religious)

Some good options include Bar-El Hospitality (www.bar-el.com) which is a lovely boutique apartment in the artist's quarter or if you want a hotel the Ruth Rimonim has had some recent renovations but can be quite pricey (ph:04 692 0655).

Thanks ms mim! both places seem super nice, and our google-ing skills have only yielded one other nice hotel (and lots more b+bs - but it's hard to know what to expect without a recommendation.) have you stayed at the bar-els?

thanks to the other posters too. we've stayed at israeli hotels before, and are familiar with the setup. usually hotels here (in israel) get very few bookings beginning on saturday, and from my experience it's generally easy to get a post-shabbat checkout when staying for at least two night (ie from thursday.)

Have stayed at the Bar El's and can recommend it. Also another option is Beit Yosef - they have multiple apartments dotted through the Old City.
