Hello all,

This Sunday is Palm Sunday - the Christian festival marking the beginning of Holy Week. I've heard that thousands of pilgrims make a procession from the mount of olives into the Old City. It sounds like quite a sight and I'd like to see it - but I can't find any information anyway about the route or what time everything begins. Does anyone know?

Thanks
Eirwen

Try the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem: +972 2 539 9700
Maybe they have some information.

Look here for the Lent and Easter 2012 schedule. There is also a "contact us" on that site.

The Israeli Government Tourist Information Centre is located on the left hand side, immediately inside Jerusalem’s Jaffa Gate. They will supply you with free maps and route information, tel. (02) -628043.

If as you say the route comes from the Mount of Olives, then the procession will probably come into the old city via the Lions Gate, and proceed into the Via Dolorosa.
