My friend and I will be in Jerusalem next week, and we will be traveling to Amman, Jordan. We have two days to make the trip. These seem to be our options:

  1. Go to Tel Aviv to get the Jordanian visa on day 1, and then travel over the Allenby Bridge to Amman on day 2.
  2. Go to Ramallah to get the Jordanian visa on day 1, and then travel over the Allenby Bridge to Amman on day 2.
  3. Go to Beit Shean by taxi (expensive and tedious), cross at the Jordan Valley Bridge, and then take another taxi back down to Amman--all doable on day 1. (Are there taxis waiting at the border?)

We would prefer Option 1 (I guess), but some people have said that the Jordanian embassy in Tel Aviv may not grant tourist visas. Can anyone who has done this recently confirm that the embassy does grant visas, and on a same-day basis?

Otherwise, what would be the easiest, safest, and most convenient way to go?

Thanks.

How about calling the Jordanian Embassy in Tel Aviv to ask? (03) 751-7722.

And why on earth would you take a taxi from Jerusalem to Beit She'an when there are plenty of buses? Timetables at www.egged.co.il/eng.

Option 4 - You don't say where you are now, but there's a possibility you can get your Jordanian visas from an embassy or consulate where you happen to be now, prior to your trip.

Good luck.

You don't say what you plan to do in Jordan, but if you are planning to go to Petra -

Option 5 - take a bus to Eilat, cross over to Aqaba, go to Petra and from there continue on to Amman.

Allenby bridge is the border between Jordan and Palestine (West Bank), so tourist visas to cross through Allenby are usually delivered at the Jordanian consulate in Ramallah. It usually takes less than half a day.

However you can call the embassy in Tel Aviv and ask if they can arrange it for you.

As has been said, you can also apply for the visa in your home country.
