Hi I am staying in Bethlehem at the moment and would like to visit Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, i can get to Damascus gate easily but don't know how to get from Damascus gate to yad vashem because most instructions leave from jaffa gate (which i have never been to). If anyone can help i would be really grateful, thanks!

If you have exited Damascus Gate, cross the road (Sultan Suleiman), slightly to your left is a car park and adjacent to that car park is the Jerusalem Light Rail Damascus Gate stop. Buy a ticket from the vending machine approx 6.40 NIS, and take the Mount Herzl tram to the last stop for Yad Vashem (it's eleven stops). From the terminus it's a short walk (15 minute) to the memorial through woodland.

When you get on the light rail transit, remember to validate your ticket on one of the little machines near each of the doors. If you don't, your ticket is invalid. Ticket checkers pass through the coaches frequently, and are not known for letting people off the hook -- although one did for me! Thank you thank you!
